Over the next three years, the South Dakota Allied Health Training Consortium will work together with rural health care facilities and high schools to develop and expand innovative training programs to increase the number of adults earning certificates, degrees, and diplomas.
Beginning in the fall of 2015, Southeast Technical Institute will offer classes in Medical Coding for the Pierre area. By attending Saturday sessions, every other week, this program can be completed in one year (including summers). This program will prepare professionals in classifying and indexing diagnoses and procedures for the purpose of reimbursement, standardization, retrieval, and statistical analysis using nationally recognized coding systems. Upon completion of this program, students in the Pierre area cohort may apply to sit for the Certified Professional Coder examinations sponsored through AAPC.
Please see Health Student Handbook for additional/adjusted rules, regulations and policies regarding your program.
