BHT 240 - Behavioral Health in Diverse Social and Cultural Populations 3 Credit Hours This course will introduce special considerations of bias, health equity, and cultural awareness when serving behavioral health patients of diverse social and cultural populations and groups. Students will explore the unique mental and behavioral health needs for a variety of diverse groups and populations and will consider concepts contributing to disparities in mental health such as discrimination, bullying, poverty and financial stress, historical trauma, exposure to traumatic events, post-traumatic stress, loss of place, hopelessness, and loneliness will be explored.
