                                                               It is the goal of the Southeast Tech DMS program to prepare competent entry-level general (Abdominal/OB/Gyn) sonographers in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains. 
Upon completion of an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography - Abdominal/OB/Gyn (DMS), a student will be able to: 
Science and Technology  
	- Recognize the sonographic appearance of abdominal, superficial, obstetrical, and gynecological anatomy.
 
	- Demonstrate an understanding of the physics principles that apply to Sonography.
 
	- Demonstrate the appropriate use of sonographic equipment, including multi-dimensional imaging and Doppler techniques to obtain diagnostic data.
 
 
Problem Solving / Critical Thinking 
	- Recognize pathology and understand related physiology to acquire appropriate images and information for diagnostic interpretation.
 
	- Modify exam protocols based on pathology and/or physiology variations.
 
	- Safely operate, troubleshoot problems, and implement corrective action on sonographic equipment.
 
 
Professionalism 
	- Uphold ethical health care standards related to HIPAA.
 
	- Interact within diverse situations and cultures with dignity, respect and compassion.
 
	- Remain current in all aspects of sonographic technology by maintaining credentials, participating in professional organizations and continuing education to promote life-long learning.
 
 
Communication 
	- Recognize image quality and articulate patient data necessary to provide interpreting physician with appropriate information for accurate diagnoses.
 
	- Effectively collaborate and communicate with health team members to provide optimal patient assessment, diagnoses, and care.
