Upon completion of an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, a student will be able to:
Science & Technology
    - Understand physical, biological systems so that broad principles can be applied to all equipment and systems.

    - Understand how the technology relates to the physical process.

    - Understand theory of how equipment works.

Problem Solving/Critical Thinking
    - Demonstrate troubleshooting techniques on equipment and the thought process involved.

    - Develop processes for logical thinking to solve systemic problems.

    - Develop a process for applying—“learning how to learn”.

    - Develop questioning techniques for analyzing type of machine and appropriate approach.

    - Develop flexibility in the approach for solving multiple problems.

Professionalism
    - Present themselves in a positive and professional manner.

    - Demonstrate effective customer service/relations skills, including communications and problem solving directed at customer satisfaction.

    - Continue lifelong learning: Seek further information in their field, to keep current, through periodicals, trade journals, and recurrent training.

Communication
    - Demonstrate proper operation of medical test equipment.

    - Read schematics for the purpose of signal flow and troubleshooting.

    - Communicate professionally with medical team including nurses, doctors, directors and co-workers.

    - Communicate with the authority having jurisdiction over codes and standards.

    - Document preventative maintenance, pm’s, electrical safety test and repair information.

    - Demonstrate the ability to research and present information on a given system.

    - Demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment for the purpose of improving throughput, or operation, of a system.
