Upon completion of an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Nuclear Medicine, a student will be able to:
Problem Solving/Critical Thinking
- Evaluate patient history to ensure that the appropriate study is being performed.
- Acquire, analyze, and process scintigraphic images that will be useful in diagnosis.
- Demonstrates knowledge of radiation safety by practicing strict adherence to Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulations.
Science & Technology
- Prepare, assay, and administer the proper radiopharmaceutical for the desired procedure.
- Completes and confirms that quality control standards are met.
Professionalism
- Uphold ethical health care standards related to HIPAA.
- Interact within diverse situations and cultures with dignity, respect, and compassion.
- Remain current in all aspects of nuclear medicine technology by maintaining credentials, participating in professional organizations, and continuing education to promote life-long learning.
Communication
- Effectively collaborate and communicate with patients and health team members to provide optimal patient assessment, diagnosis, and care.
- Maintains accurate written records of required documentation.
