The accounting degree from Southeast Technical College is designed to provide students with the knowledge and the skills necessary for employment and growth in the accounting profession. Using the language of business, accountants assemble, analyze, process, and communicate essential information about financial operations.

Why consider an accounting major?

Accounting is the backbone to business. A degree in accounting can set students on a path to a strong career in business and finance. Accountants work for corporations, nonprofits, government agencies, and small businesses. They create financial reports, review income and expenses, prepare tax documents, and assure regulatory compliance.

Throughout the course of the degree, students will enhance their organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail. Each business program provides emphases in: Problem-solving, Communication, Technical skills, and Professionalism.

The Accounting program at Southeast Technical College offers classes in income tax, financial management, cost accounting and payroll.

TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS: This degree is a Bring Your Own Laptop (BYOL) program. You may purchase a laptop on your own or from the Southeast Tech IT Support Center.

Additional Information


ACCT 210  & ACCT 211  are offered online during the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters. Because these are prerequisites for other ACCT classes, if you do not begin in the Fall, you may have to attend an additional semester.

All courses with the prefix ACCT require “C” or better.

Students entering a program in any semester other than outlined may not graduate in the expected amount of time.
