Mechanical Engineers work in support of design, manufacturing, and sales. They use computer-aided drafting software to create layouts of assembly processes, machines, equipment, and parts. They may study costs as they relate to the usefulness of designs. They convey the engineer’s ideas and designs to the crafts workers as mechanics who will make the products.
Coursework develops competencies in manufacturing processes, computer-aided drafting, mechanical graphics, geometric tolerance, statics, machine tool design, and computer numerical control.
TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS: This degree requires students to purchase a Southeast Tech laptop from the Southeast Tech Support Center.
