RT 102 - Basic Assessment & Monitoring

3 Credit Hours
Students will gain proficiency in utilizing standard diagnostic tools, interpreting vital signs, and understanding the physiological mechanisms underlying respiratory function and distress. Emphasis will be placed on the integration of clinical observations with technological outputs, ensuring that students can provide comprehensive respiratory care, prioritize patient safety, and collaborate efficiently with interdisciplinary healthcare teams. Students will be introduced to SOAP notes to be utilized during their first clinical rotation. By the end of the course, students will have a thorough understanding of the principles and best practices in respiratory assessment.

Prerequisites: CHEM 106 , CHEM 106L MATH 103  or MATH 114 , HC 118 , HC 118L  , ENGL 101 , PSYC 101  

Corequisites: RT 101 , RT 101L , RT 102L , RT 200
