CVS 103 - Cardiac Sonography I 2 Credit Hours In this course, students will learn the basic cardiac terms and definitions and anatomy of the heart from the point of heart formation in utero to the adult heart anatomy. Students will learn the basic Echocardiographic views and learn how the heart anatomy is visualized in each view. The physiology of the heart will be expanded upon by learning mechanisms of blood pressure, electrical conduction, preload, afterload, systole and diastole. Students will be introduced to heart sounds and cardiac murmurs as it pertains to the Echocardiographic Examination and receive an introduction to the basic modes of Ultrasound.
Prerequisites: HC 117 , HC 118 and HC 118L , MATH 103 or MATH 114 , CNA certificate or HC 106 , PHYS 100
