Medical Lab Technicican, AAS

Upon completion of an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Medical Lab Technician, a student will be able to:

Technical Skills

• Successfully completed the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Certification Exam.
• Successfully complete MLT Program Requirements.

Problem Solving / Critical Thinking

• Students will problem solve challenges with laboratory equipment necessary to assure quality laboratory testing.
• Apply ethical principles and legal guidelines in solving dilemmas related to patient care, confidentiality, and professional conduct.

Professionalism

• Model professionalism in clinical and patient care environments.
• Foster positive relationships with patients, families and healthcare team members while demonstrating professionalism, effectual communication, and appearance.

Communication

• Interact effectively with healthcare team members and patients with clear communication using clarity, language precision, timing, and sensitivity.
• Correlate laboratory results, patients diagnosis, and patient clinical developments during hospital stay.
