Upon completion of a Certificate in Certified Nursing Assistant, a student will be able to:

• Demonstrate basic nursing assistant skills
• Explain Certified Nursing Assistant’s role in safety and emergency procedures

• Apply principles of infection control prevention
• Discuss need for and promote residents’ independence
• Identify and respect residents’ rights

• Demonstrate professional workplace communication and punctuality
• Demonstrate professional healthcare dress
• Obtain South Dakota Nursing Assistant certification for two years
