Upon completion of an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Architectural Engineering, a student will be able to:
Technical Skills
- Interpret construction documents.
- Differentiate the materials, construction techniques, and systems used in residential and commercial buildings as well as their cost impact on a project.
- Utilize Computer Assisted Design (CAD) to develop the components of construction plans including plan views, elevations, building sections, site plans and detail drawings.
Problem Solving/Critical Thinking
- Recognize relationships between architectural designs, structural elements, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and how various designs affect the building systems comprehensively.
- Analyze, interpret and calculate solutions for industry applied mathematical problems.
- Interpret and apply building code regulations to residential and commercial construction designs.
Professionalism
- Interact and collaborate with stakeholders in the construction process in a professional manner.
Communication
- Communicate in a clear and concise manner with stakeholders in the construction process through electronic correspondence, personal interaction, and construction documents.
