CVS 213 - Vascular Sonography IV 1 Credit Hours In this course, students will learn about alternative imaging modalities that may be used in conjunction with Ultrasound Imaging and the way in which Ultrasound and/or non-imaging arterial machines may be used to evaluate Penile Blood flow. Students will learn about various types of peripheral vascular and carotid interventions. Students will differentiate between non-invasive intervention types and explore the benefits and pitfalls of each. Students will be able to determine when each intervention may be used and decipher how each of the interventions would be assessed during an ultrasound examination post operatively. Students will learn the different types of arterial bypass grafts and determine the level at which specific bypass grafts would be surgically attached, and then explain how Vascular Sonographers evaluate bypass grafts post operatively. The students will also define and explain Quality Assurance and how to calculate the Accuracy, Specificity, Sensitivity, Positive Predictive Values, and Negative Predictive Values when comparing results of Vascular Ultrasounds to the Gold Standard.
