BHT 240 - Behavioral Health in Diverse Social and Cultural Populations 3 Credit Hours This course will introduce special considerations for serving behavioral health patients of diverse social and cultural groups and populations and will consider concepts contributing to disparities in mental health such as vulnerability, occupational-related hazards and stress, lack of resources, geographic or experiential influences, discrimination, bullying, poverty and financial stress, exposure to traumatic events or generational trauma, loss of place, hopelessness, and loneliness. Protective and strength-based attributes of each group will be considered to promote positive support and healing strategies for patients.
Prerequisites: BHT 100
