BHT 150 - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Principles 2 Credit Hours Students will develop a solid foundation of knowledge and skills for evidence-based cognitive and behavioral approaches used to positively improve patient outcomes. Students will learn to differentiate cognition, emotion, and behavior while exploring different types of cognitive behavioral therapeutic approaches. Students will build awareness of the cognitive model and form a foundational understanding of the connection between events, automatic thoughts, emotions, and beliefs. Course content will explore ancillary concepts such as mindfulness-based strategies, activity planning, and motivational interviewing in order to comprehensively support behavioral health patients.
