Bookkeepers manage a company’s finances through recording business transactions, billing customers, paying vendors, and tracking cash through reconciliations. Smaller companies may also expect the bookkeeper to assist with payroll. Bookkeepers organize and report a company’s financial information so business owners can make informed decisions about how to use its capital.
Bookkeepers need strong computer skills as they maintain these records on spreadsheets/accounting software programs. A skilled bookkeeper can present data clearly, communicate effectively with customers and co-workers, and provide analysis assistance to make decisions that positively affect the company’s profits.
