Biomedical Equipment Technicians work in hospitals and in health care centers. They install, test, service, and repair medical equipment in medical and research centers for use by physicians, nurses, scientists, or engineers who research, monitor, diagnose, and treat patients. Biomedical Equipment Technology is a continuation of an Electronics degree and will provide training in general medical equipment, clinical laboratory, x-ray, and ultrasonic equipment.

Background checks and drug screenings are required prior to acceptance for this program.

  • Bring Your Own Laptop (BYOL ) (Students may either purchase a laptop on their own or purchase one from the Southeast Tech Support Center.)

Additional Information


Students must already have completed an associate degree or two-year diploma from a Higher Learning Commission, North Central Association accredited institution in one of the following programs: Electronics, Robotics, Satellite Communications, Automation Control Systems, Mechatronics, or other Program Chair approved programs to be admitted to this program.

*Internship must be completed within 2 semesters of graduation.

Students entering a program in any semester other than outlined may not graduate in the expected amount of time.
