MECH 114 - Electronic Concepts I 3 Credit Hours An introduction to electronic components, their function, schematic symbols, wiring methods and electrical safety. This course will cover passive, reactive and semiconductor components. The course will cover simple resistive circuits through low power rectifier and amplifier circuits. Voltage, current, component characteristics, and their relationships using Ohm’s law, Watt’s law and Kirchhoff’s laws will be studied with a mathematical approach to analyze electronic circuits. Also included. Basic algebra, exponents, metric prefixes, and trigonometry will be covered as it relates to electronic circuits. The course will focus strongly on circuit analysis for troubleshooting and determining root cause in circuit failures.
