ST 120 - Principles & Practice of Surgical Tech

2 Credit Hours
This course provides an in-depth understanding of essential preoperative practices in the surgical environment, focusing on patient preparation, positioning, draping, and urinary catheterization. Students will learn to prepare the surgical patient for various procedures, including performing skin preparation and catheterization, as well as safely positioning the patient. Emphasis will also be placed on the proper application of draping techniques for both the patient and surgical equipment. Additionally, students will explore the role of technology in surgery, including minimally invasive techniques and the use of diagnostic procedures in the surgical setting.

Prerequisites: All First Semester ST/HC Courses

Corequisites: ST 100 , ST 120L
