Dental Assisting, Diploma

Upon completion of a Diploma in Dental Assisting, a student will be able to:

Technical Skills

• Students will maintain patient safety by applying current principles and guidelines of infection control, aseptic techniques, and hazards management in a dental setting. 

• Students will be independent in their ability to prepare and manipulate dental chairside and laboratory materials, including fabricating dental models, trays, and appliances.

• Students will demonstrate proficiency in dental radiographic procedures and the safe, effective use of nitrous oxide/oxygen sedation.

• Students will apply dental assisting skills confidently while performing procedures in the dental setting.

Problem Solving/Critical Thinking

• Students will utilize critical thinking and problem-solving strategies to evaluate and respond to patient needs.

Professionalism

• Students will demonstrate professional and ethical standards expected of dental professionals.

Communication

• Students will perform key administrative tasks in dental offices accurately including clear and accurate chart notes.
