Medical Coding and Billing, Diploma


Upon completion of a Diploma in Medical Coding and Billing, a student will be able to:

Technical Skills

  • Graduates will be able to apply medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, health information management principles, and revenue cycle processes to assign diagnostic and procedural codes and perform billing activities using ICD‑10‑CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II.

Problem Solving/Critical Thinking

  • Students learn to analyze clinical and financial data, apply coding and billing guidelines, and resolve coding and reimbursement scenarios within established healthcare and payer frameworks

Professionalism

  • Graduates will demonstrate ethical and professional behavior, protect the confidentiality of health information, and adhere to legal, regulatory, and compliance standards while promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in healthcare environments.

Communication

  • Students learn to communicate coding, billing, and health information accurately and professionally through documentation, electronic systems, and collaborative interactions within the healthcare revenue cycle.
