Steven has over 20 years of experience in the welding industry that includes hands on experience with GMAW, SMAW, GTAW, FCAW and SAW disciplines as an ironworker, pipeline welder and as a production welder in a manufacturing setting. Custom welding and fabrication and ironwork cover the majority of his experience. Steven also has expanded his skills in the welding industry by adding his credentials as an AWS Certified Welding Inspector as well as a Certified Welding Supervisor.
Steven began to bring his welding career into the teaching and training field in 2016 when he started a Weld Training Program while employed at Worthington Industries. He developed a new approach to the training of new welders, continuous improvement training of existing welders and sharing the weld training concepts to other departments in the plant to increase the continuity in the production process. Using his skills as a CWI, he administered and evaluated Weld Certification testing of all the welders, preformed random and periodic product Weld Audits for the Quality Department. Utilizing the skills gained through the training and testing for his CWS credential, he also worked on approaches to find cost reductions in the welding department and ways to maximize welding operation throughputs.
