Rod began teaching at Southeast Tech in 1986.
He has a master’s degree in Career Technical Education with an emphasis in land surveying from South Dakota State University and is a Professional Land Surveyor in the state of South Dakota.

Along with his years of surveying experience in the industry, he is a former Co-Owner of Dakota Land Surveying Inc., Past President of the South Dakota Society of Professional Land Surveyors, Owner of RB Land Surveying LLC and has received the Outstanding Contribution to the South Dakota Land Surveying Profession.

Rod was honored as the ATEA’s Outstanding Technical Educator for the Northern Plains Region in 1992 and in 2006 and Southeast Tech’s Teacher of the Year in 2004.

“I believe in stressing the fundamentals. This gives the student a strong foundation and a platform to build new knowledge upon. My style is more of a student/coaching approach by providing an atmosphere of learning with everyday real world industry conditions and situations.

Rod’s interests include anything outdoors including golfing and year-around fishing.

Elizabeth began teaching AutoCAD classes for Training Solutions at Southeast Tech in 2000. In 2010, she joined the Engineering Technology Department. Before starting at Southeast Tech, she spent her career designing and assisting with a variety of municipal and transportation projects. She has a broad background in municipal improvements involving subdivision layout, geometric roadway design, traffic control, erosion control, drainage, water main and sanitary sewer design. Elizabeth worked for Shive-Hattery Inc in Cedar Rapids, IA and HRGreen in Sioux Falls. She is a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of South Dakota and a Land Surveyor-In-Training (LSIT).
