Health Pre-program Preparatory Coursework

Students who have not completed the prerequisite coursework required for STI’s Cardiac Ultrasound Technology, AAS , Vascular Ultrasound Technology, AAS , Invasive Cardiovascular Technology, AAS , and Diagnostic Medical Sonography - Abdominal/OB/Gyn (DMS), AAS programs are required to take and successfully complete STI’s Health Pre-Program Preparatory Coursework (see “Additional Information” below regarding DMS program requirements).

Students accepted into the Electroneurodiagnostic Technology, AAS or Nuclear Medicine Technology, AAS extended preparatory program are required to take and successfully complete specific STI Health Pre-Program Preparatory Coursework (see “Additional Information” below regarding Nuclear Medicine and Electroneurodiagnostic Technology requirements.)

The Health Pre-program Preparatory Coursework helps students build foundational skills prior to beginning program-specific coursework. Students must complete the required coursework below with a ”C” grade or higher in each course before continuing into program-specific coursework. See Southeast Tech Admissions staff for additional information.

NOTE: Students in Pre-Program Preparatory Coursework who will start program-specific coursework in 2015-2016 are required to complete HC 106 as stated below. These students, however, will not be required to take the HC 121 and HC 121L courses when they enter their program-specific coursework.

MATH 102T - College Algebra 3 Credit Hours
This program requires MATH 102T for degree completion. Students placed first in MATH 101 may use MATH 101 as a prereq for PHYS 100.

CHEM 106T - Chemistry Survey 4 Credit Hours
CHEM 106TL - Chemistry Survey Lab Credit Hours
HC 106 - Certified Nursing Assistant 3 Credit Hours

Note: CHEM 106T and CHEM 106TL or PHYS 100 is required as a program prerequisite. The course not taken as a prerequisite can be moved to the first Fall semester of program-specific coursework. CHEM 106T and CHEM 106TL are not required for Diagnostic Medical Sonography students.

Additional Information

Requirements: Achievement of a grade of “C” or higher on all Pre-Program Preparatory Coursework.

Electroneurodiagnostic/Nuclear Medicine Technology:

PHYS 100 - Applied Physics (Not required for ENDT students.)
HC 106 - Certified Nursing Assistant (Not required for Nuc Med and ENDT students.)
MATH 101 - Intermediate Algebra (Required for ENDT students in place of MATH 102T.)

Diagnostic Medical Sonography:

PHYS 100 - Applied Physics (Must be taken as part of preparatory coursework)
CHEM 106T - Chemistry Survey (Not required for DMS students.)
CHEM 106TL - Chemistry Survey Lab (Not required for DMS students.)
