Heating/Ventilation/Air Conditioning/Refrigeration technicians install, service, maintain, and repair a variety of air moving and air tempering equipment. They will work with blueprints to fabricate and install duct work, tubing, and/or piping circuits. The use of torches, various power tools, and numerous hand tools will be necessary to perform the specific task. These technicians will also use many pieces of electrical and mechanical test equipment to determine system problems. The technician will perform his or her job both indoors and outdoors based on the type of equipment worked on.
- Bring Your Own Laptop (BYOL) (You can either purchase a laptop on your own or purchase one from the STI Support Center. Estimated 750.00 for laptop.)

Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of an Associate of Applied Science Degree in HVAC/R Technology, a student will be able to:
Science & Technology
- Prevent, identify, or solve problems with equipment, using various test equipment.
- Choose procedures, tools or equipment to make necessary repairs.
- Understand overall intent and proper procedures for setup and the operation of various types of equipment.
- Utilize time management skills to complete work as scheduled.

Additional Information
HVAC Instructors:
Timothy Hummel, M.Ed. BS, AAS: 20 years industry experience, 21 years teaching experience. Paul Tunge, AAS: 9 years industry experience, 7 years teaching experience.
Students must earn a “C” or better in all HVAC courses in order to graduate.
