Mechanical Engineers design products, processes and programs for the manufacturing and the building industry.  A heavy emphasis is placed on software to model, design, analyze and control products and processes.  The learning program is based on teaming and hands on learning.

This two-year program will prepare the student for a career in world class manufacturing or consulting.  The close connection and cooperation with industry partners ensures that the students are training for current demand.  The ideal student has strong aptitude for math, PC based work and mechanical devices.  Key outcomes of the program include:

  • CAD/CAM software skills
  • Design for manufacturability
  • Machining and fabrication understanding
  • Design analysis including Finite Element Analysis
  • Quality tools.
  • Project management
  • Teaming and interaction

If you are a detail-oriented problem solver that enjoys daily challenges as part of a team, Mechanical Engineering may be a good career choice for you.

TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS: This degree requires students to purchase a Southeast Tech laptop from the Southeast Tech Support Center.

*MATH 114   and MATH 120   may be taken instead of MATH 101  and MATH 116 . Placement into MATH 114T is required. A passing of “C” or higher in MATH 114T is required to continue onto MATH 120T.

Students entering a program in any semester other than outlined may not graduate in the expected amount of time.
