The System and Network Security degree will prepare students to be a well-rounded computer, system, network, and IT security professionals. They have three core skill sets – Network Administration, System Administration, and IT Security.

Responsibilities include having excellent network infrastructure and design knowledge. The program blends the understanding and building of solid skills in TCP/IP and network communications protocols. Maintaining connectivity of the communication hardware, including, but not limited to, routers, switches, and wireless equipment in modern enterprise networks.

Installing, configuring, and maintaining Windows and Linux servers on the network. Working with network services by installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining various systems. Proficiency in adding users to the organization’s network and establishing and editing user rights. Writing server-side scripts to automate tasks.

Technicians maintain the network infrastructure and interconnected devices’ security and are responsible for protecting the network and resources from unauthorized access. They maintain firewalls, utilize intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDPS), and develop disaster recovery procedures to ensure business continuity. These professionals are often heavily involved with customer support and system operations analysis.

TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS: This degree requires students to purchase a Southeast Tech laptop from the Southeast Tech Support Center.
