Horticulture is both an art and a science.  A degree in horticulture opens pathways to many career opportunities in greenhouse production, nursery management, landscaping construction, landscape maintenance, arboriculture and fruit and vegetable production.   Students will learn how to identify, grow, maintain, and manage a variety of plants such as: annuals, perennials, woody plants, and fruits and vegetables.  Integrated pest management and plant health care principles are applied in the greenhouse, production fields and the landscape in order to understand diseases, insect pests and pest control methods.   Environmental conservation principle and practices of soil, water and biological control are essential in the horticulture field.  In this hands-on learning environment students get the opportunity to maintain and safely operate equipment that is critical to the industry.  The horticulture industry has a huge impact by providing amazing landscapes, ground maintenance, parks and rec, conservation, beautiful flowers, and food.
