Diesel Technology: Agriculture/Construction Emphasis, AAS

The modern equipment of today utilizes GPS and computer controls to map field and job sights. Computers are integrated into many modern vehicles, recording machine production and efficiency. Some machines are automated and programmable to improve productivity for the machine operator.

In today’s Agriculture, Construction and other Heavy Equipment areas, Diesel technicians will use a variety of skills to evaluate, diagnose, repair, and maintain machinery. Keeping todays modern engines running efficiently and within emission standards is an exciting and challenging field. Today’s diesel technician uses a variety of tools and testing equipment to evaluate, troubleshoot and repair diesel engines. A variety of maintenance, adjustment, repair, and reconditioning procedures are necessary to keep equipment performing at optimal levels. In addition to the engines, diesel technicians also need a basic knowledge of advanced electro-hydraulic systems, powertrain, brakes, steering, air conditioning as well as implement controls. We will also explore how computer’s control most of these functions.

 TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS: This degree is a Bring Your Own Laptop (BYOL) program. You may purchase a laptop on your own or from the Southeast Tech Support Center.
