BUS 242 - Fundamentals of Insurance II 3 Credit Hours Students will learn how the underwriting of insurance is processed through applications for various types of insurance, how insurance companies use different sources of information as they underwrite, and how insurance companies monitor existing policies based on loss ratios. This course will also focus on property and casualty insurance. Students will learn how property and casualty insurance protects are assets on damages caused by fire, theft, accidents, etc. and provide liability coverage for damages you cause others to their property or health. Some of the different types of policies include: homeowners, marine, automobile, liability, business, and workman’s compensation. For students seeking a career in becoming a trusted advisor to individuals seeking financial protection, their professional understanding of what insurance entails is vital and this course will assist them in understanding what role they will play in helping others protect their assets.
