4P11 Employee Recognition, Reward, Compensation, and Benefit System

The Administrative Team, working with the In-Service Committee and AQIP Campus Climate Team is concentrating on creating events which will thank all staff for their various contributions to the school. STI:

  • hosts off campus employee social events,
  • provides “thank you” treats at the monthly meetings,
  • recognizes employee accomplishments through Monthly Meeting Good News Reports,
  • publishes articles and news briefs on accomplishments on the STI web page and Celebrating Student Learning, Tech Times, and President’s Report publications.
  • plans In-Service sessions with the goal of celebrating all employees and fostering camaraderie,
  • individually recognizes employees through emails, thank you notes, words of appreciation, and recognition in front of peers.

Recently, as a result of a recommendation by the AQIP Campus Climate Team, the Administrative Team elected to recognize staff with STI pins designating 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 years of service.

The topics and agenda for in-service days each year are generated by faculty working with administration. Having faculty design the professional development they want empowers them. Faculty and staff are treated with breakfast, lunch, or snacks at various meetings and on in-service days. As a way of building camaraderie and awareness of what goes on in each program, in-service sessions have featured tours of the buildings and presentations by program faculty about their respective fields held in their lab areas.

The SFEA Contract Negotiation team and STI Administration work within the negotiation process to develop a compensation and benefits package for faculty. Compensation and benefit packages for other employee groups are negotiated with their respective organizations. For those employees who are not part of a negotiating employee group, salaries and benefits are determined by the institute and are comparable to the adjustments made with other negotiating groups.

For salaries and benefits in all groups, STI strives to align pay and benefit structures to match or exceed those of similar working groups in the region. STI’s compensation and benefits packages compare very favorably to the compensation and benefit packages in the region.
