Computer Technician, Diploma


Upon completion of a Diploma in Computer Technician, a student will be able to:

Science & Technology

  • Demonstrate troubleshooting skills and technical proficiency on various computer network operating systems, desktop operating systems, installed software, attached peripherals, and other computer networking equipment.
  • Analyze and summarize the effect of newly released technologies and upgrades on existing systems.

Problem Solving/Critical Thinking

  • Demonstrate troubleshooting skills on various computer network operating systems and desktop operating systems.
  • Demonstrate troubleshooting skills on various computers, peripherals, and computer networking equipment.
  • Determine proper configurations compatibility for computer operating systems.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment for the purpose of improving throughput, or operation of a system.
  • Determine work-around solutions for critical situations until long term solutions are found.

Professionalism

  • Demonstrate safe working practices with computers and related equipment.
  • Demonstrate effective customer service/relations skills, including communications and problem solving directed at customer satisfaction.
  • Seek membership in professional organizations.
  • Demonstrate safe working practices with computers and related equipment.Identify and demonstrate the ability to use essential customer relations skills in dealing with team members, co-workers, and customers.

Communication

  • Write procedural manuals and handbooks to outline computer operating systems and software installation/upgrade procedures.
  • Document computer operating systems, installed software, settings, and operational statuses.
  • Write summaries of newly released technologies and enhancements for the purpose of keeping managers abreast of changes.
